today, one of the ladies I help take care of saw me coming towards me and said, "there's my fateful nurse."
Ever since I've felt as if I should slink mysteriously about, in a possibly significant way. | | Tuesday, June 5th, 2007 | | 1:42 am |
Me Strong! Today, while at work, I used a public washroom to wash my hands in, went to get some paper towel and the dispenser fell off the wall! As in, kerplunk! As in, I think I accidentally tore it off the wall!
This is evidence that I either don't know my own strength or that the towel dispenser wasn't put on very well. | | Sunday, June 3rd, 2007 | | 12:58 pm |
*looks at flist* I seem to have hit a snag in which the ideas I have for stories get snagged. As in, I can write a short paragraph, or the basic idea for a story and then nothing. Usually when this happens I just play around with drabbles, poems or vignettes that have nothing to do with the story ideas, to help me get past the writers block. Every now and then, though, I need a bit of a challenge, something to spark the creative process. One thing that has worked in the past, is to have someone give me a word (any word) and the definition of said word, to think about for awhile and then I finally get an idea for a drabble, poem or vignette. Or even an idea for a series of connected drabbles etc.
So... to any of you willing to help, give me a word and it's definition, to see if it helps me get out of the rut I find myself in. If it does, I shall thank you in the author's note for the word that helped inspire me. | | Saturday, June 2nd, 2007 | | 2:04 am |
conversation at work: Male patient: "Do I have to take these pills now?" Me: "Yes, and you will even if I have to tie you to your bed and stuff them down your throat." *kidding.* Male patient: *laughs* I don't know about that. *takes pills* Though it could be interesting." Me: "I don't think we're allowed to though." Male patient: "I'd never tell."
ahem.
Second, I have, as of my weigh in today, lost 16.13% of the weight I want to lose.
Third, I have managed to surpass my old record at Spider Solitaire with a five game winning streak today. The last record was four games in a row. *happy dance* | | Thursday, May 31st, 2007 | | 11:20 pm |
today was one of the hottest days we've had this year and I wrote a poem called Bitter Cold.
We also worked one person short today and I managed to help 43 people in total, one with a bath. One girl, given six extra people to do on her list only did five of them (if we're lucky). She may not have done all of the list she was given, but that's her problem, not mine. She was still doing paper work when I left, wanted me to stay, but I said, "I'm finished my work and need to get home. You can figure out the paper work yourself." And left.
I work tomorrow (a day I normally have off), which will make seven days of work in a row. Why did I offer to take the shift?
Forty two days and counting until vacation. | | Saturday, May 26th, 2007 | | 11:24 am |
Happy 100th Birthday to the Duke, aka John Wayne "I have faith in a supreme being. I don't believe in organized religion because there are too many of them and I just don't think God could be so disorganized as to have all that many churches claiming his authority." John Wayne
"I know how to get my way. I don't argue; I become adamant." John Wayne.
"I stopped getting the girl about 10 years ago. Which is just as well, because I'd forgotten what I wanted her for." John Wayne.
"Maureen O'Hara is the female equivalent of me. She could rough me up and I could rough her up." John Wayne
"For years I've played the kind of man I'd like to have been." John Wayne. | | Friday, May 25th, 2007 | | 3:10 pm |
there is a very cute cat attempting to get a spot on MTV's Real World show. "to go register and vote for her" I know she'd be a great addition to the show, assuming MTV doesn't stop her run for it. | | Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007 | | 12:20 pm |
Sam Carter's Diary Title: Samantha Carter’s Diary Author: Qzeebrella Date completed: May 9, 2007 Archive: sure, why not? Fandom: Stargate, SG-1 Category: gen Rating: G Characters: Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson, et al Summary: Sam and Daniel have a sibling rivalry thing going on that Sam takes a bit too seriously. Disclaimer: The show and its characters belong to MGM Worldwide Television and possibly others. No profit is being made from this story and no infringement is intended. Author’s notes: written for Annie, aka control_freak80 who wanted: #1: I'd like silly friendship fic, preferably set on Earth, off base. Wacky hijinks are always welcome. or #2: Date interrupted - how many times did Sam and Daniel have to reschedule/cancel dates before they finally got to go on a "real date" earth side? Really, anything showing the two of them having trouble getting off base for a date would be great. She got, silly friendship fic, and wacky hijinks, with a short mention of off base activity. I hope it’s okay. 1243 words. ( Sam Carter's Diary ) | | Friday, May 18th, 2007 | | 9:49 pm |
Whee! I started a weight loss program five weeks ago and so far I have lost 10.75% of the weight I want to lose! *happy dance*
I also got a lot accomplished today. I went downtown for awhile and got together with a group of people to talk for a bit. Then I headed to my bank, the branch closest to where I live for a 2 pm appointment, found out the appointment was actually at a downtown branch, so scurried back downtown. I was a bit late for the appointment, but the lady didn't mind, too much.
I then got myself a few things from the dollar store, including a really cool solar powered calculator, two door mats, a new cutting board, some body sponges and a pretty notebook with butterflies on the cover.
I then went to Value Village to look for a pair of suspenders for a gentleman I help in the nursing home, couldn't find any, but found some at a Bargain store. They shall be a gift to him from a "secret admirer". I also got myself a new nightgown that's both pretty and comfortable and a tote bag from there.
I wandered back downtown to have dinner out and saw Shrek 3. (I enjoyed it, but it's not quite as good as the first two IMHO.) And now I am home. | | 2:10 am |

Dedicated to aeteananke just to traumatize her a bit, hoping she'll read it in spite of the "traumatize" bit.Morn sat on his favorite chair at the bar, waiting for the new chef Quark had hired to make "home made meals for profit" to arrive. He was looking forward to tasting the newest exotic dish on the menu. Something his love, the new chef, had worked hard on. He knew it would be wonderful and spicy, just the way he liked it. iulia_linnea put this fic prompt up in her journal: 2. "This is not the pudding you're looking for." A Harry Potter fic was the result. Harry Potter et al belongs to J.K. Rowlings and company. Star Wars belongs to Lucas Films. Darth belongs to himself. *** "This is not the pudding you're looking for." Harry waved his hands mysteriously and Ron just looked at him as if he thought Harry was crazy, but Seamus laughed and held up his wand. "Use the force Harry!" "Help me Obi Wan Finnigan, your my only hope!" Harry cried out dramatically as Seamus and he started dueling. Creating their own special effects. Pretending their wands were lightsabers. Most of the surrounding students watching them with disbelief. "I think we need to get them to Pomfrey." Ron whispered to Neville and Neville nodded. Preparing to cast an Immobulus. Stopped only by the sight of Snape swooping towards them, humming an ominous tune. Harry and Seamus turned toward him, gaping. "Harry," Professor Snape breathed heavily, "I am your father." "WHAT THE HELL?" Ron. "One hundred points from Gryffindor for profanity." Snape sneered and swooshed away, menacingly. "He was kidding, right?" Seamus. "Yeah, I think so." Harry. "I would never have pegged him to be a Star Wars fan though." "Me neither." Seamus. "What in the hell is going on?" Ron, purple with rage. Harry sighed, knowing that it would take him hours to explain Star Wars to Ron. The end Still looking for a beta for a Stargate SG-1 fic. | | 12:30 am |
Needed, a beta for a Stargate SG-1 fic. Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson friendship fic. Rather silly and possibly a tiny bit of OOCness. Any takers? | | Tuesday, May 8th, 2007 | | 11:55 pm |
okay, let's say I place a fifty cent bet on a horse winning a race and the odds against that horse winning were fifty to one against, and the horse did in fact win, how much money would I win? | | Monday, May 7th, 2007 | | 11:12 pm |
Thank you, thank you, thank you aeteananke for the extension! *huggles* | | Saturday, May 5th, 2007 | | 1:59 am |
It's snowing! *points outside*
there should be some sort of law against it snowing this late in the year, really there should. | | Thursday, May 3rd, 2007 | | 12:53 pm |
My birthday has started out really good, with an 8:30 am present of the across the hall tenant being evicted. This was a very good thing as he is a suspected drug dealer, police have been to his place at least 4 times in the two months he's been here. Lots of loud arguments from his place, spilling out into the hallway, etc. I've frankly been a bit terrified by some of the goings on. Especially the people he had coming and going, some of whom I wouldn't want to meet in a daylit alley, much less a dark one. I listened to a bit of the sheriff and assorted police who escorted him off of the property and they think he'll come back to cause trouble, but if he does so, he'll be arrested. I'm hoping he'll stay away, but I plan to alter my going home route a bit, because one of the people who've frequented his place shadowed me one evening recently. Also, because he knows from which direction I come and when, so if I alter it a bit, I'll feel safer, even though I might get home later.
And I found out that the owner of my building is very nice, because she will be making sure his mother, who was living with him, gets to her other son's in Saskatchewan. Going so far as helping to pay for the airplane ticket.
So, it's been really nice so far.
*Using this icon because it amuses me and because I keep hoping someone (even me) will write a story featuring Malcolm and Jon playing dress-up this way.* |
